March 30th Funding Forward Preconference Partnership Sessions

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Impact Investment in Indigenous Communities and Beyond and Youth-Driven Strategies to Invest in Two Spirit Programs: Empowerment through Cultural Reclamation.

The first session featured Donna Morton of Principium, Sonja Swift trustee of Swift Foundation, Aurora Maria Izquierdo Torres founding member and director of Cafe ANEI, Jorge Paez Izquierdo president of the Board of Asoanei, Wayne L Ducheneaux II Cheyenne River Sioux executive director of the Native Governance Center, Cris Stainbrook from the Indian land tenure Foundation, Chris Georgacas of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s Seeds of Native Health philanthropic campaign and Jo-Anne E. Stately of The Minneapolis Foundation and gave insight into their organizations investment strategies.

The second session highlighted a special emphasis on youth, this interactive session led by Erik Stegman of the Center for Native American Youth, with panelists Sarah Eagle Heart of Native Americans in Philanthropy, Lenny Hayes of  Tate Topa Consulting, LLC, and Kevin Jennings of the Arcus Foundation explored what Two Spirit identity means and its implications for funding effective strategies to support this population.
