Artist Bio: Penelope Bebo (“Oji”- short for Ojis dondah seh which means little wild strawberry in Seneca) is a young artist from a family of artists. She loves creating “ledger art” like her father, and she loves to tell her own stories in this pictorial narrative style.
Artist Statement: This ledger art piece is about her family. She created this piece on antique ledger paper, and used ink and colored pencil to talk about how being a good relative means doing things for the ones you love so they feel loved. This image shows her mom, sis(ter), herself and her dad in the picture. She stated on the piece, “Its okay if I don’t win for the art show because i just did it (for) my heart.”
