Artist Bio: My name is Stormi Alejandre, I am 17 years old, I am a senior at Envision Academy of Arts and Technology, I am Rosebud Sioux and Acoma/Zuni Pueblo, I was born/raised in Oakland, CA and I enjoy drawing and painting as a hobby. 

Artist Statement: Photographs/symbols tacked onto wall. Nephews giving aunt flowers. Families give gifts for many reasons. Sun represents the warm feeling of giving/receiving gifts. Mother teaching daughters to bead. Parents passing down knowledge/tradition. Earrings represent families’ connection to our culture. Grandmothers at a powwow. Spending time together forms memories. Clock represents that time will end, cherish the time you do have before it’s gone. Hugging grandfather. Love always brings broken families back together. Medicine wheel represents balance. Family supports us mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Hands with tree represents growth. Family helps us grow into better people.
