We have an all-Indigenous staff and board who are all deeply committed to racial equity as an inextricable part of our work for our communities at Native Americans in Philanthropy. One of the ways we are enhancing our own understanding of racial equity is through our own workplace culture. Our relatively new executive leadership has made it a priority to fully redevelop our workplace systems so that they are as in-line with our Indigenous values and worldview as possible from the structure of our meetings to our performance review process. We are deeply committed to developing culturally-appropriate pathways for new leadership in the sector through our own team.
As an all-Indigenous team, we are also very committed to our brothers and sisters in the broader racial equity ecosystem, particularly our partners in CHANGE Philanthropy. As a coalition, CHANGE Philanthropy provides a number of organizing venues and opportunities for our staff to educate one another, build a shared set of values and principles, and identify ways to support each other’s missions and work. This cross-racial solidarity and support is crucial to our understanding of racial equity among our staff.
