Resourcing Native-Led Climate Organizing Briefing

Event Date: Feb 18, 2022 - EST
Native Peoples have experienced environmental racism and devastation for generations, and are facing some of the worst impacts of the climate crisis. The Equity Fund has long recognized the need to support Native-led climate and economic justice initiatives but realized that we had more to learn about the most effective way to do this work. Earlier this year, the Equity Fund conducted an assessment of the Native climate organizing landscape. We interviewed 34 Native leaders and non-Native allies seeking to understand the best ways to strengthen our grantmaking and technical assistance to Indigenous communities. The result is our new report, “Honoring and Resourcing Native Communities to Lead the Climate Fight: A Call to Action for Philanthropy.” We will be sharing key takeaways from the report in a special 90-minute funder briefing, co-hosted with NDN Collective and Native Americans in Philanthropy, on February 18, 2022, at 10 am PT/1 pm ET. Please save the date and plan to join us! We want to be in dialogue with allies who are joining or who are already on the path of supporting Indigenous leadership, sovereignty, and healing.
