In times of crisis, when Tribes and Native-led nonprofits are under-resourced, there are efficient ways to deliver funds directly to communities and families in need in a culturally responsible way.
Foundations, grantmakers, and other funders are invited to join NAP and ONAC for a panel discussion about the value of intermediary funders and movement infrastructure, and the role partners can play in supporting Native communities.
The discussion will feature Edgar Villanueva from the Decolonizing Wealth Project, Lisa Price from Wells Fargo, Christy Finsel from the Oklahoma Native Assets Coalition, and will be moderated by NAP’s CEO, Erik Stegman.

Edgar Villanueva is an award-winning author, activist, and expert on issues of race, wealth, and philanthropy. Villanueva is the Principal of Decolonizing Wealth Project and Liberated Capital and author of the bestselling book Decolonizing Wealth (2018, 2021). He advises a range of organizations including national and global philanthropies, Fortune 500 companies, and entertainment on social impact strategies to advance racial equity from within and through their investment strategies. Villanueva holds a BSPH and MHA from the Gillings Global School of Public Health at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe and resides in New York City.
Lisa Price Financial Health Philanthropy Program Manager Wells Fargo
Lisa Price is vice president and Program Manager for the Wells Fargo Foundation’s Financial Health Philanthropy team. Lisa oversees corporate-wide asset building programs serving low to moderate income diverse and underserved communities. Prior to this role, Lisa was the Community Development Officer for Arizona, representing Wells Fargo in community and economic development activities. Lisa joined Wells Fargo in 2013 and brings 13 years’ experience in community development. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, she was with the City of Phoenix Community Development Division. Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in business from Arizona State University. Active in many professional and community organizations, Lisa is very involved with LISC Phoenix and FSL’s Community Based Development Organization. Lisa grew up in Phoenix, A.Z., and currently lives in the Phoenix Area.
Christy Finsel (Osage Nation) Executive Director Oklahoma Native Assets Coalition (ONAC)
Christy Finsel is tribal citizen of the Osage Nation. Since 2011, she has directed the Oklahoma Native Assets Coalition, Inc. (ONAC), a Native-led nonprofit. Started in 2001, ONAC is an intermediary grant funder, as well as a direct service provider of seed funded Children’s Savings Accounts and emergency savings accounts, emergency cash assistance, financial coaching, down payment assistance, and incentivized Bank On accounts. ONAC also coordinates both the national Native Bank On ONAC initiative and the Native EITC/VITA Network; provides training and technical assistance; and conducts national Native asset building research. Ms. Finsel has been conducting Native asset building research and administering various asset building programs since 2003. She holds a MA in Theology from St. Louis University and a MASW from Washington University in St. Louis.

Erik serves as Chief Executive Officer of Native Americans in Philanthropy, a national organization advocating for stronger and more meaningful investments by the philanthropic sector in tribal communities. Previously, he served as the Executive Director for the Center for Native American Youth at the Aspen Institute. He has held positions at the Center for American Progress on their Poverty to Prosperity team, as Majority Staff Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, and in the Obama administration as a Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education. Erik began his career in Washington, D.C. at the National Congress of American Indians Policy Research Center. He holds a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, an M.A. in American Indian Studies from UCLA’s Graduate Division, and a B.A. from Whittier College.
