Tribal Co-Stewardship Workshop

8:30am-5:30pm PT

Event Description

Overview

This session is intended to provide background and foster deeper understanding of the movement toward greater opportunities for tribal co-stewardship and co-management of federal public lands. Tribes possess unique authorities and rights under the government-to-government relationship with the United States. In highlighting and exploring these authorities, and with a focus on the legal, historical, and policy foundations of the federal-tribal relationship and its connection to the management of federal public lands, the workshop provides a basis on which participants will be able to further explore and discuss present and potential future of tribal co-stewardship and co-management opportunities. The session will provide an opportunity for Tribal and philanthropic partners to engage directly with leading legal and policy experts on potential projects and collaborative opportunities.
