Job Details

President of the University of Cincinnati Foundation and Vice President for University Advancement The University of Cincinnati seeks a transformational and community-minded leader to serve as the next President of the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and Vice President for University of Cincinnati (UC) Advancement. The new President/Vice President (UCF President/UC VP) will serve as the architect for the next era of philanthropy as a leader, ambassador, and champion, honoring the mission of the University of Cincinnati and its healthcare affiliate, UC Health. Also, considering the University joined the BIG 12 athletic conference in July 2023, changes in the athletic philanthropic landscape offer opportunities to drive unique strategies in fundraising that could have a lasting impact well into the future. The UCF is the designated fundraising and alumni relations arm of UC and UC Health. A 501(c)(3) organization, the UCF was created in 1975 as an entity to raise, receive, invest, and distribute funds on behalf of the University. In the most recent fiscal year, the UCF raised more than $150 million from its more than 340,000 alumni and other donors and also oversees an endowment totaling over $1.8 billion. As it looks toward the end of its $2 billion Next, Now campaign in June 2024, the UCF has emerged as a powerful advancement operation with strong results and a compelling future. The UCF President/UC VP will lead a 180-member UCF team of advancement and alumni relations professionals to develop and execute the UCF's engagement and fundraising strategy, working in close collaboration with both UC and UC Health leadership. The UCF President/UC VP will directly report to UC President Neville Pinto and to the UCF Board of Trustees, the latter of which is comprised of 43 passionate alumni and supporters and chaired by altafiber President and CEO Leigh Fox. The UCF President/UC VP will be a member of the University President’s cabinet as the executive responsible for securing the philanthropic resources required to fulfill long-term strategic goals. In this next advancement leader, President Pinto and the UCF Board of Trustees seek candidates who possess a global perspective on the role of higher education in society as well as a passion for public higher education in particular. The UCF President/UC VP will bring a collaborative leadership style that inspires confidence, professionalism, and organizational pride based on a demonstrated ability to set a clear vision for the UCF, in support of UC and UC Health, and translate that vision into clear strategies. As Next, Now winds down, this role will begin focusing on developing and executing a new campaign. But, more importantly, the next UCF President/UC VP must develop an advancement organization focused on achieving consistent best-in-class fundraising performance on an annual basis. In addition, excellent interpersonal skills and management experience will be essential in developing a high-performing team within the UCF as well as cultivating relationships with a wide variety of individuals across a sprawling and complex educational institution and medical community. All applications, nominations, and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile available at wittkieffer.com. WittKieffer is assisting the University of Cincinnati Foundation and the University of Cincinnati in this search. For fullest consideration, candidate materials should be received by January 12. Application materials should be submitted using WittKieffer’s https://apptrkr.com/4805255. Nominations and inquiries may be directed to Greg Duyck, Mercedes Chacón Vance, and Sarah Seavey at UCFPresident@wittkieffer.com. At the University of Cincinnati Foundation we seek talented, collaborative and mission-focused individuals to join our advancement team in driving philanthropic support for the University of Cincinnati and UC Health. We are committed to diversity, equity, and building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages. We are taking steps to meet that commitment. We especially encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and people that are differently abled.
