  2. The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Job Details


Job Title: Environmental Stewardship Researcher

Location: Prefer hybrid in Anchorage, AK (Remote is secondary)

Length: Annual position    Salary: $60,000

Main Goal: To help build our foundation of Traditional Stewardship for our Sovereign Nation

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive research into the activities and initiatives undertaken by federal agencies concerning our birds, oceans, and lands, focusing on:
  2. The U.S. National Park Service
  3. The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge under the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
  4. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  5. The U.S. Coast Guard
  6. Other relevant military branches, such as the U.S. Air Force
  7. Other federal agencies
  8. Organize and facilitate meetings with federal agencies to establish collaborative relationships and gather necessary information.
  9. Assist in mapping initiatives as needed.

Skills:

  1. Report Writing is the main skill needed
  2. Working effectively with federal agencies requires a combination of technical skills, soft skills, and a deep understanding of federal processes.
  3. A foundational understanding of federal regulations, policies, and procedures is also crucial (not required).
  4. Communication and interpersonal skills.

  3. Professionalism
  4. Self-determined, as this is either a hybrid or a remote position
  5. Work well in a one-to-one work environment

Requirements:

  1. Background in environmental studies (flexibility of type of environmental background considered)
  2. Knowledge of Indigenous traditional ecological practices
  3. Prefer background in research
  4. Prefer understanding of military operations
  5. Prefer experience in mapping or foundational skills in mapping processes
