Who We Are

Native Voices Rising (NVR) is a participatory grantmaking organization rooted in reciprocity, relationship, and community accountability. After 11 years under the stewardship of the Common Counsel Foundation and Native Americans in Philanthropy, NVR has transitioned to an independent, fully Native-led entity through a fiscal sponsorship arrangement. We engage with grassroots Native communities and build bridges within the philanthropic sector, and we are now investing in the infrastructure and capacity to match the depth and power of the work our communities are leading.

What We're Looking For

NVR is seeking an innovative, values-aligned website consultant, individual or team, to partner with us on a comprehensive redesign and rebuild of our website. Our current WordPress site was built during a previous chapter and no longer reflects the full scope of our work or our vision for this next phase as an independent Native-led intermediary funder.

We envision our new website as a living digital home. Inspired by the metaphor of Indigenous homebuilding, each part of NVR’s ecosystem will have its own room in the house; a space where our communities feel seen, safe, and connected, and where funders and partners can engage with the power of our model. The site should be warm, clear, and navigable, with a design sensibility rooted in care and creativity rather than heavy or corporate aesthetics.

Our work is guided by these core values:

  1. Reciprocity: We practice mutual exchange and shared benefit in all our relationships.
  2. Community accountability: Our decisions are shaped by and answerable to the Native communities we serve.
  3. Relationality: We prioritize trust, care, and long-term relationship over transactional engagement.
  4. Self-determination: We center Native leadership and the right of Indigenous peoples to define their own priorities.
  5. Transparency: We operate with openness about our resources, processes, and decision-making.

Scope of Work

This is a focused engagement centered on building a clean, compelling, and easy-to-maintain WordPress website with a refreshed brand identity. We are not looking for a complex or feature-heavy build. Our priorities are clear storytelling, strong visual identity, funder-facing credibility and community accountability, and a site our small team can confidently manage going forward.

Phase 1: Core Website Redesign & Brand Refresh

  1. Brand identity refresh: Updated visual identity including color palette, typography, and design language that reflects NVR’s independence and values. We have an existing logo and visual foundation to build from; this is a refresh, not a ground-up rebrand.
  2. Discovery & content strategy: A lightweight discovery process (content audit, 2–3 stakeholder conversations) to understand our audiences and clarify site architecture and messaging priorities.
  3. UX and visual design: Clean, intuitive page layouts that center NVR’s story and model. We envision a relatively simple site structure (approximately 8–12 pages) with strong visual storytelling.
  4. WordPress development: A rebuilt WordPress site that is mobile-responsive, accessible, and easy for our team to update without developer support. We value simplicity and maintainability over custom functionality.
  5. Key integrations: Links to our third-party grant portal, email marketing platform, and donation processing. These are external tools; we need clean links and embeds, not custom-built systems.
  6. Content migration: Migration of essential existing content to the new site. We anticipate a relatively lean content migration given the site’s current simplicity.
  7. Training & handoff: Documentation and a training session so our team can manage the site independently post-launch.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone deeply connected to Native organizing movements and Indigenous communities, with a demonstrated commitment to community-centered work. Strong project management, clear communication, and the ability to facilitate and co-create alongside our collaborative team are essential. Above all, we want a partner who is trustworthy, relational, and excited to help us build something meaningful.

To Apply

Please submit your application by March 20th, 2026 via our online form below. We ask for a portfolio of relevant work with a description of your specific role in each project, at least two references, a values statement sharing your story and unique approach, examples of how you design for accessibility, and a brief proposal with a preliminary timeline and budget estimate.
