Full Time Position: starting at $79,000 - annually, non-exempt.
Position Hours: 40 hours/week, flexible hybrid schedule available, includes some weekends. Benefits: Full medical (100% paid for employee, Kaiser 1000/20 plan), dental, retirement match account (3% match), 12.5 holidays and 22.5 paid days off to start. Annual performance reviews and ongoing feedback to support professional development.
Reports to: Executive Director. Supported by Management Team and Restoration Fellow.
JOB SUMMARY
Friends of Tryon Creek seeks a passionate individual to manage land-based programs and grant funded projects at Tryon Creek State Natural Area. This position will require a combination of program leadership, partner collaboration, and the ability to build and maintain capacity to support multiple efforts. Project roles include: foundation and government grant-writing, grant reporting, project leadership, and oversight. The Grants Program Manager is responsible for operational support of the Cultural Restoration Program to benefit the community, culture, and ecology of the urban forest landscape.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. GRANT/ORANGIZATION MANAGEMENT
• Grant writing and reporting to private foundations and government entities. • Track and report multiple grants in CRM database (NEON)
• Providing communication and supportive oversight of Restoration team member position.
• Program evaluation and effectiveness.
• Work with the Management Team to promote overall organization sustainability.
2. PROGRAM LEADERSHIP
• Support planning and logistics of land based cultural restoration program.
• Manage relationships and communicate with contractors and partner organizations.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Provide operational and administrative support to ensure grant project success.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years of experience in non-profit management or land-based work (College degree(s) and/ or coursework can substitute as years of experience).
• Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate about environmental programming concepts. Position will require strong research and writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, and provide mentorship to team members in a collaborative way.
• Attention to administrative detail, ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and achieve organizational goals.
• Knowledge of Pacific Northwest plant species and land management techniques including Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
