Native Americans in Philanthropy is dedicated to increasing and nurturing Indigenous representation in the philanthropic sector. With that in mind, the opportunities on our Job Board fit one of the following criteria:
- The position is within a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
- The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Director of Human Resources
Job Details
- Investing in the leadership and organizing of diverse communities (Black, Latinx, AAPI, Indigenous people, and communities bearing the brunt of climate change);
- Engaging voters in these communities through nonpartisan civic engagement campaigns; and
- Winning climate and clean energy policy solutions that reflect the priorities of communities and advance racial, economic, and environmental justice.
- Demonstrated equity fluency combined with an approach to human resources that prioritizes the well-being of staff and recognizes that staff who are valued and supported are better able to serve others.
- Significant human resources experience in consultative and advising roles of increasing responsibility in a similarly complex organization.
- Prior experience encompassing employee relations, talent management, HR risk and compliance, performance management, compensation, benefits, learning and development, management coaching, and strategic advising and data management.
- Commitment to and experience in successfully employing an anti-racist/anti-oppression lens to foster a diverse, equitable working environment and creating diverse teams that reflect communities served.
- Familiarity with HR databases (e.g., HRIS, performance management software, ATS, payroll software, etc.).
- A high level of emotional intelligence and ability to thoughtfully and accurately assess and solve highly complicated people problems.
- A systems thinker with the ability to translate ideas into action, and a creative and resourceful problem solver.
- A collaborative, collegial style and a proven track record and commitment to mentoring and coaching staff and building internal leadership. A management style that fosters respect, teamwork, and innovative approaches.
- Highly organized and flexible; able to multi-task and manage a high-volume workload; excellent time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and coaching skills with a demonstrated ability to develop trusting relationships and influence at all levels of the organization and handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Comfort with ambiguity and working through solutions with creativity and innovation.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
- Fluency in oral and written English required; additional languages are a plus.
- HR Certification is a plus (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR).
