Director of Gift Accounting & Fund Management
Job Details
- Fundraise to improve health outcomes and equitable access to excellent care for all kids and their families
- Advance equity and access to care for children with special health care needs
- Directs the full scope of gift processing to ensure that all gifts are accurately captured, entered, deposited, and transferred
- Leads, in close collaboration with the Finance team, the month-end reconciliation and reporting of gifts received to internal and external partners
- Supervises bank/brokerage account management, outstanding pledge management, gift-related reporting and annual audit support for internal and external partners
- Manages new fund setup, workflow, the matching gift system, and the documentation and upkeep of gift related policies and processes
- Works with internal partners to review materials to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements and serves as a knowledge partner for state and federal regulatory and legal compliance applicable to charitable gifts, fundraising, and related issues
- Works collaboratively and strategically with internal partners, such as the Associate Director of Gift Planning, to integrate, optimize, and support the gift administration and gift agreement processes and policies
- Takes ownership of, communicates with stakeholders about, and resolves complex gift administration and fund management issues
- Leads, mentors, and supports the professional growth of direct reports, building a culture of continuous improvement, the automation of processes, and redundancies
- Establishes individual staff goals and objectives in alignment with departmental and Foundation goals and provides consistent and constructive feedback to staff
- Promotes a work environment where staff feel engaged, valued and can do their best work, and visibly recognizes the accomplishments of individuals and the tea
- Embraces diversity in all its forms to ensure departmental and Foundation staff are treated with respect, dignity and empathy at all times and in all situations
- Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit finance, nonprofit management, or equivalent experience preferred
- 5+ years of non-profit accounting or gift processing and fund management related experience
- 2+ years’ experience managing and leading a team, including mentoring and developing staff
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state rules/regulations regarding charitable organizations
- 5+ years’ experience performing and/or managing month-end reconciliation processes, including timely preparation of reconciliations and reports and the ability to lead the redesign and continuous improvement of the process
- Working knowledge of all aspects of the gift cycle, including gift agreements, new fund setup, gift entry, and acknowledgement
- Experience troubleshooting complex gift issues
- Experience managing multiple external and internal relationships
- Relational database experience including data entry, query construction, report creation, and data manipulation
- Experience leading Gift Processing through a CRM conversion
- Experience working within a related organization ecosystem
- Experience with Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge
- Knowledge of PowerBI

- Stewards a cadence of regular feedback to team members; also seeks coaching for self
- Ability to lead through change and navigate ambiguity with success
- Proactive in addressing stakeholder needs, motivations, concerns and culture in order to build trust and deliver sustainable results
- Identifies structural issues and builds a prioritized process with stakeholders to resolve them efficiently and amid ambiguity
- Takes initiative, delivers results, observes a high degree of satisfaction from partners based on excellent outcomes and good relationships
