Native Americans in Philanthropy Welcomes Greg Masten

Please join Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) as they welcome Greg Masten (Yurok) to their team.

Greg joins the organization as Vice President of Tribal Nations Engagement and Special Projects, a newly created position where he will spearhead a new philanthropic Indigenous coalition.

“Greg brings unique vision to this role,” said Erik Stegman, Executive Director of NAP. “Greg understands the untapped potential for philanthropy in bringing tribal leaders together with Native nonprofit leaders and funders. We’re excited about the wisdom and relationships he brings to our team.”

Greg Masten is an enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe and descendant of the Hupa and Karuk Tribes. Greg comes from a family of tribal leaders that taught him the value of honoring the past by utilizing his gifts to work toward a better future for Native people.

With over 20 years of experience, Greg has led regional, state and national initiatives in education and philanthropy to develop strategies to create more awareness, advocacy and ultimately more resources to support Indigenous peoples. Greg’s past work with some of the nation’s largest foundations and corporations to engage and positively impact Native communities will be invaluable in his new role.

“Ayekwee’ to all of my relatives and friends,” said Masten. “I’m excited to work for NAP to create a platform for more awareness and partnerships between our tribal nations and the philanthropy sector to rewrite the narrative and direct more resources to support our Native communities.”

Native Americans in Philanthropy is proud to expand its team, which will increase its capacity to engage Native-led organizations and increase their funding, support Native professionals in philanthropy, and further influence the philanthropic sector to be in alignment with an Indigenous worldview.
