About This Grant

The Community Roots Program, made possible by Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding, is available for qualifying federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations/villages, Tribal organizations, and organizations working in Tribal communities. Individual sub-awards will range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $1,000,000 total, over a 3-year period, depending on the scope of work, unique needs, and capabilities of the applicant. Applications are due September 30, 2024. This is an opportunity to bring the benefits of trees to our Tribal Communities. Plant an urban orchard to increase food sovereignty by nourishing the community. Grow shady spots that provide relief for elders, children, and animals. Bring people together to engage in hands-on experiences and develop beneficial skills and, deepen connections to the land by planting traditional herbs and grasses for healing gardens.
