About This Grant

Edward R. Ammon was a businessman in northeast Pennsylvania. In his will, dated 1961, he created a charitable trust which annually awards grants. The trust is small and only awards $6,000-$7,000 for the purpose stated below. Mr. Ammon designated funds from the trust to specifically be used for native populations in the United States, stating "It is my wish that the funds for Indians principally be used to benefit Indians who are attempting to maintain their traditional way of life, living among their own people for such purposes as purchasing seed, fertilizer, livestock, farm equipment, and other needs for these people." Previous grantees include the American Indian College Fund, Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture, and Makoce Agriculture Development. The application process is only answering questions from a paper form. Grantees may reapply without restriction in subsequent years. Ideally, funding will be sent via check in July or August.
