THE OPPORTUNITY Summer Search New York City is seeking an Institutional Partnerships Manager to join its five-member development team. Taking ownership of approximately $978,000 of a $5.46M fundraising budget, this hire will manage an existing portfolio of corporate and institutional supporters – such as General Atlantic and Equinix - as well as qualify new prospects for cultivation. This is a great opportunity for a development professional with a love of data, project management, and relationship-building to hit the ground running and join a collaborative and mission-driven team. You will play a significant role in growing Summer Search’s impact in New York City and nationwide. WHAT YOU’LL DO Portfolio Management (50%) • Manage and grow an existing portfolio of approximately 80 corporate donors and 30 institutional prospects to solicit $1M+ in support this year. • Drive cultivation strategies that are focused on building meaningful, high-touch individual relationships while leveraging Executive Leadership to execute 4 major moves for each current managed donor. • Lead the qualification process from a pre-identified pipeline, analyzing prospects for fit and making recommendations for and executing next steps. • Represent Summer Search at strategic outreach opportunities, including corporate partner annual meetings and volunteer events to cultivate and manage relationships with donors. • Draft detailed and compelling proposals and reports;follow up on requests and report requirements related to grants proposals and reports • Manage correspondence and communication with funders and prospects on a timely basis, meetings, personal cultivation through site-visits and event invitations, steward existing sponsors and partners. • Partner with and leverage key staff, including New York Senior Director of Development, New York Executive Director, National VP of Development and Chief Executive Officer to maximize donor cultivation and stewardship. • Play a lead role in identifying strategies to involve institutional donors and prospects into existing programming, including partnering with program colleagues to design donor engagement and volunteer opportunities. • Stay abreast of the corporate giving landscape, trends, and opportunities in New York City, with a particular focus on funders that support youth development and college access/success. • Partner with the program team around institutional internship partners and programs, and ad hoc volunteer efforts. Development Operations Management (30%) • Ensure accurate and timely upkeep of all donor data in Raiser’s Edge (RE) database directly, including gifts, acknowledgements, relationships and actions, conducting audits, and generating reports that illustrate progress on development strategies. • Build and run scheduled and ad hoc reports, running queries and pulling data from RE database, manipulating in Excel, and presenting in a highly readable format. • Draft and coordinate donor and prospect correspondence and preparation of materials for quarterly and individual meetings with Board members. Event Management (20%) • Serve as external event lead for Summer Search New York City’s Annual Golf Outing • Partner with the Events and Donor Relations Manager to ensure effective and high-level event execution and data operations, including event strategies, pre- and post-event communication strategies, materials production, venue selection and communication, Board Committee support, and day-of event production. • Partner with the program team on donor engagement efforts including Career Coaching, career readiness workshops, internship partners and programs, and ad hoc volunteer efforts. WHO YOU ARE • EXPERIENCE: You have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in a fund development role at a nonprofit organization, ideally with a focus on corporate giving or partnerships. • RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: You partner with prospects and donors by building lasting relationships to support the organizational mission and meet fundraising goals. • COMMUNCATION EFFECTIVNESS: You are an active listener and thoughtful and strategic when conveying feedback, sharing ideas, or responding to inquiries to various audiences in multiple formats. • ACCOUNTABILITY: You hold yourself and others responsible for processes, decisions, actions, and commitments to results to drive high quality outcomes. You're responsive to the needs of stakeholders and follow through on commitments. • CRITICAL CONCIOUSNESS: You have an understanding of the root causes of societal discrimination and injustices and are self-reflective about your own privilege and positional power. You apply critical thinking and take action toward liberatory and inclusive practices. • TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Competency in CRM databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred) and Microsoft Office applications, with strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. LOCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working 2-3 days in person per week, flexibility on event weeks. The NY development team primarily works out of the Manhattan office and occasionally requires work and training at the Bronx office. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive and transparent salaries. This is an exempt position with an annual salary ranging from $81,903-$88,641. Summer Search is committed to transparent, equitable compensation practices. Salaries are benchmarked using current market data and salary bands are created to demonstrate the growth potential within the band.
