Job Details

Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts seeks an experienced, passionate nonprofit development professional to guide the organization’s fundraising and donor stewardship efforts and support the growth of our development team. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading effective appeals and campaigns while managing all aspects of Watershed’s development activities – from major asks and grant writing, to database management and thank you letters. The ideal candidate will enjoy and excel at long-range planning and strategy, and possess a strong attention to detail needed to nurture and build sustaining relationships with donors and funders. With support and expertise from the Development Manager, Watershed will expand the development team in the coming 12-24 months. We are looking for someone willing to wear many hats and guide the progression to a well-rounded team and strategy. Responsibilities Summary The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director and collaborates with appropriate Watershed staff and Development/Stewardship Committees of the Board of Trustees to oversee the development work of the organization in the following areas: Fundraising strategy & implementation Grant writing and administration Annual appeal & scholarship appeal campaigns Annual report Donor visits, asks, stewardship Donor database management and acknowledgement letters Salad Days VIP event management Grow the development team and roles Qualifications Three years of donor database management experience minimum, knowledge of Blackbaud & eTapestry preferred Three years successfully soliciting individual donors to support various fundraising goals (annual appeals, capital campaigns, Giving Tuesday, etc). Five years working in non-profit development roles with progressive responsibility Event planning experience, ideally in a leadership role Adept, efficient & effective writing and editing skills Strong listening and interpersonal skills, and the ability to professionally and effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences Highly collaborative and organized with the ability to manage competing priorities A self-starter and self-helper with keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills Adept with computers, software programs, and platforms including: MacOS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite (Mail, Calendar, Drive, etc), Dropbox, Zoom, WordPress, Constant Contact Capital campaign experience and leadership preferred An interest in the arts, artists and arts organizations preferred Working Conditions & Physical Demands Work is most often stationary and performed at a computer in an office environment, but requires event-related work outdoors and the ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs. Some remote work is available to be coordinated with the Executive Director but this is considered an on-site position which benefits from regular collaboration, communication, and connection with coworkers. Details, Compensation & Benefits The position is full-time, year-round, and salaried (exempt status) with a regularly scheduled 40 hour per week expectation. The schedule is typically the standard 8 hours, five days per week, adjusting as needed to accommodate employee needs. Events and meetings take place during evenings and weekends periodically. Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits: paid vacation and sick time, health insurance (paid in full by employer), optional FSA, retirement match, studio space, and a materials and kiln firing allowance.
