ABOUT MOSAIC
Mosaic is a national funder and field catalyst whose mission is to amplify the power of the environmental field by strengthening movement infrastructure– the connections and shared resources all social movements need to succeed. With its innovative model of grantmaking, Mosaic aims to make transformative investments that build the power of the environmental field to meet the pace and scale of today’s challenges and win the big environmental victories necessary in this critical decade and beyond.
Launched in 2020 following a two-year decision process that engaged a diverse set of more than 100 stakeholders, Mosaic is led by a rotating Leadership Council of leaders from environmental, justice, and philanthropic organizations and supported by a small staff. With proposals from the field, the Mosaic makes grants to support field-wide capacity building through four key areas– narrative, leadership development, shared resources, and fostering relationships within the environmental and justice communities. In its first four years, Mosaic has invested $26 million toward movement infrastructure, benefiting over 5,700 organizations.
THE OPPORTUNITY

Mosaic was created in response to a collective recognition that, although the U.S. environmental movement has achieved historic victories, the pace and scale of the challenge we face demand even more. The environmental movement will only achieve climate and environmental goals with a stronger, better-connected movement that is capable of driving and sustaining meaningful change.
