Advancement at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Dean for Advancement Renée M. Crown Wellness Institute! CU Boulder is a global leading research-intensive university and the only institution in the Rocky Mountain region that is a member of the Association of American Universities. CU Boulder regularly ranks among the nation’s top universities in federally funded research expenditures and attracts significant philanthropic investments from individual, corporate and philanthropic foundations in support of Boulder’s research, teaching, creative works and service mission.
The Crown Institute’s research focuses on practices, programs, and policies that champion wellness among children and youth, families and caregivers, educators, and mental health and health providers. Scholars in multiple fields work together and in partnership with families, teachers, young people, and community members. The overall approach to the study of wellness in the Crown Institute foregrounds the importance of contextual factors and addresses disparities in access to health and education, such as those related to gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, language, or other forms of identity. Current areas of Crown Institute work include participatory action research, prevention and intervention research with young people, families, and educators including programs focused on mindfulness, compassion, and other contemplative and behavioral practices, and factors that support young people’s sense of belonging and agency in communities and schools. Future research may build upon existing areas of research or may explore new areas not currently represented. Our work seeks to recognize, value, and honor diverse approaches to wellness and the impact of racism and systems of oppression on social, emotional, and mental health.
This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development with a dual report to the Director of the Crown Institute and will engage with key constituents and campus leadership to advance the mission of the Crown Institute, including principal gift donors, alumni, parents, and community members. This includes leading the Crown Institute Advancement team and developing collaborative partnerships across the complex CU Boulder campus and CU system landscape around the campus’ prioritized health and wellness opportunities.
