Summary Description:

The Ford Foundation’s Information Technology department seeks a Systems Integrations Architect to join their team. The Architect collaborates closely with the Associate Director, Integrations and Reporting to supervise all the integrations between applications in the Foundation’s IT environment. 

With both conceptual and practical knowledge, the Architect can introduce fresh perspectives to solutions and drive impactful improvement in integrations. This role primarily involves collaborating with users and other teams on defining and implementing integration for user cases. The incumbent will be tasked with analyzing and contributing to guide decision-making in user scenarios and business flows. During this process, they are responsible for translating business use cases for orchestration between SaaS systems into technical specifications, anticipating technical challenges, defining deliverables and timelines, and guiding developers in configuring or developing integrations based on specifications. 

The Architect is accountable for monitoring daily operations and ensuring data quality resulting from integrations. This role also collaborates with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure the quality of integrations. With expert understanding of business data and processes, they will create consolidated program milestones, interdependencies, development and delivery plans and coordinate efforts of internal process owners and subject matter experts.

It is preferred that the incumbent have strong experience as a developer. Having a working knowledge of Javascript, Python and C# or similar technologies are important for this role. Experience with an integration platform, such as Boomi, MuleSoft or a similar tool is critical for the position. In addition, experience with Workday and Salesforce is an added bonus.

Responsibilities, include but not limited to: 

  • Lead development and maintenance of both standard and custom integrations that facilitate data exchange across different systems in the foundation.
  • Propose and present solutions to stakeholders to secure consensus and to guarantee the seamless progress of the project.
  • Serve as a bridge between business owners and related vendors to jointly set project priorities and tasks to ensure the completion of projects in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and resolve integration issues along with application owners, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all sources.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Team in the development of SOP and the improvement of the knowledge base, aiming to achieve a "first call resolution" for integration issues reported to the Help Desk.
  • Manage technical documentation of integrations between various systems & data related changes.
  • Explore and research new integration technologies and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong Technical Foundation: 5+ years of proven experience in building and maintaining robust integrations that seamlessly connect diverse systems. This includes hands-on expertise with integration platforms like Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar technologies.
  • Cloud Savvy & API Proficiency: Demonstrated experience connecting cloud-based systems and a strong understanding of various API architectures and protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP).
  • Analytical Acumen & User-Centric Approach: Exceptional ability to analyze user requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and make informed recommendations. Must be adept at collaborating with users in a strategic and thoughtful manner, serving as a bridge between their needs and the technical solutions.
  • Data Management Expertise: Broad knowledge of data management principles, including data modeling, data governance, and data quality. Experience with relational databases and data warehouse technologies is essential.
  • Programming & Platform Proficiency: Solid programming skills with languages such as C#, Python, T-SQL, Ruby, and JSON. Experience with platforms like SQL Server and Workday Studio (or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Solution-Oriented & Delivery Focused: Proven track record of successfully leveraging technology solutions to meet project objectives and deliver tangible business value.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Prowess: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex and detailed technical challenges.
  • Offshore Team Collaboration: Ability to effectively collaborate with and guide offshore development teams, ensuring clear communication and successful project execution.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including users at all levels of the organization.
  • Teamwork & Time Management: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily a sedentary role. However, the person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with internal staff, access files, office machinery and a copy machine/printer.

Salary: The Ford Foundation is committed to practicing salary transparency. The minimum salary for this position is $130,000 and the maximum is $140,000. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of this range. The final offer is determined by a candidate’s relevant experience and our commitment to internal equity. We review global compensation on a regular basis to ensure market competitiveness and equity. The hiring range for this position has been carefully crafted in alignment with the market.

Location: This position is based in the foundation’s New York office. We operate in a hybrid model and require staff to be in the office three days per week.
