About Native Americans in Philanthropy 

Native Americans in Philanthropy’s (NAP) mission is to promote equitable and effective philanthropy in Native communities. We do this by increasing engagement and funding to Native-led organizations; increasing and supporting Native professionals in philanthropy; and transforming and influencing the philanthropic sector to be in alignment with an Indigenous worldview. We also aim to improve the availability of regular, reliable data and Indigenous-led research on Native communities and their relation to philanthropy. NAP’s new strategic plan seeks to increase awareness among key constituents and engage Native and non-Native philanthropic professionals, Tribal Nations, and Native-led nonprofits with NAP’s resources, activities, and programs.

About the Position

The Education Resource Facilitator (ERF) works closely with the Director of Research and Education and the Director of Membership and Indigenous Leadership to advance Native Americans in Philanthropy’s (NAP) programming and network building. The ERF will help plan and coordinate multiple programs such as membership education (which includes member education sessions, member coffee chats, member exclusive content, etc.), Tribal 101, Art of Reciprocity and other education programs. In this role, the ERF will be responsible for planning, development, facilitation, and implementation with the Director of Research and Education.

Position Objectives:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Education, other project managers, assigned team members, and other stakeholders to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Manage cross-project initiatives, ensuring coordination and effective delegation.
  • Develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established program goals/objectives.
  • Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives.
  • Create assessment protocols to evaluate program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Strategy and Planning Development

  • Assist with developing strategies and program design for NAP’s educational programming.
  • Update, convene, and communicate with partners and stakeholders regarding NAP’s initiatives and activities.
  • Identify opportunities across the organization for resource development.
  • Synthesize large complex topics into specific program delivery mechanisms.

Project Management

  • Provide grant budget development, financial monitoring, and management experience.
  • Create and streamline processes, oversight, and evaluation to allow more attention to be spent on impact and relationships while continuing to provide strong stewardship of resources.

Education Programs

  • Provide oversight of programs and initiatives as designated by the Director.
  • Responsible for facilitating engaging webinars and educational sessions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Manage and support contractors and team members to build effective, values-based programming.
  • Research and review existing educational programming from partners and other organizations and create a comprehensive listing of available education programs.
  • Support the development of needed education programs specific to philanthropy and supporting Native tribes and communities.
  • Develop and design engaging curricula and educational resources to support NAP's programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.

Fundraising, Development and External Relations

  • Collaborate with the membership and development teams to engage new and existing funders.
  • Represent NAP at speaking engagements, conferences, and other events as part of NAP’s education programming.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities with members, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with NAP team members, build and manage relationships with local, regional, and national organizations.
  • Support the NAP leadership team and development staff in drafting funding proposals and reports.

  • Resourcefulness—the ability to leverage networks and experience to find answers, solve problems, and identify new opportunities for impact.
  • Adept at building collegial relationships and able to respond to issues with clarity and diplomacy; demonstrated ability to inspire and foster trust and confidence in staff, management, and their colleagues.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree Native American Studies, Communication, Education, or related field plus two years experience in program development or at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Deep knowledge and experience working in Native contexts, relationships, as well as understandings of tribal communities and nonprofits.
  • Experience and/or understanding of the philanthropic sector and relationships with philanthropic professionals, funders, and organizations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills with proven ability to build collaborative relationships, trust, and operate in a team environment, as well as cultivating relationships with tribal leaders and tribal government philanthropic enterprise.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a nonprofit, philanthropic, or other mission-driven organizational setting that leverages relationships across the philanthropic, private, and public sectors with local and community stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to think strategically; demonstrated record of success working with a diverse constituency of partners and stakeholders to achieve specific programmatic outcomes.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRM software, such as Salesforce or HubSpot
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing and marketing tools, such as Canva, HubSpot, or similar tools

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time using a computer to prepare content and routine administrative work.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time for member events, conferences, and staff meetings.
