Native Americans in Philanthropy is dedicated to increasing and nurturing Indigenous representation in the philanthropic sector. With that in mind, the opportunities on our Job Board fit one of the following criteria:

  2. The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Position Overview

The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition (NABS) is seeking a creative and strategic Digital Content and Platform Manager to join our team. This individual will play a key role in shaping our digital presence by managing our social media platforms, website, and content creation efforts. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a passion for storytelling, a strong understanding of digital trends, and expertise in user engagement and content strategy. This position will report to the Director of Communications and collaborate closely with other team members to develop compelling content that aligns with organizational goals and resonates with our audience.

 

About Us

NABS is boldly leading the movement for truth, justice and healing for Indigenous peoples impacted by U.S. Indian boarding schools. We are Indigenous led with 100% of the Board of Directors and Officers being Native American and Alaska Native.

  1. We are a coalition of 1,600 members and growing, including Tribal Nations, Tribal enrolled individuals, allies, and organizations.
  2. We use our coalition voice to educate others about the truth of the Indian boarding school policies, experiences, and genocidal legacy.
  3. We expose the truth about Indian boarding schools through research and education.
  4. We lead action towards justice and healing for our children, families, and communities.
  5. We advocate for accountability through policy change at all levels, including the call for a federal Truth and Healing Commission on Indian boarding schools.
  6. We make resources available to raise awareness and support healing from the intergenerational trauma Native peoples continue to experience.
  7. We publicly launched the National Indian Boarding School Digital Archives (NIBSDA) in 2024, a first-of-its-kind Digital Asset Management System capable of organizing and displaying historical boarding school records and materials for every identified boarding school institution.

Digital Content and Platform Manager

What you will do:

 

Social Media Management:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement.
  2. Manage day-to-day operations of social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok).
  3. Create, schedule, and publish engaging content, including text, graphics, videos, and other multimedia.
  4. Monitor social media trends, hashtags, and emerging platforms to keep the brand current.
  5. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
  6. Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics to measure performance and optimize future strategies.

 

Website Management:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day management of the organization's website, ensuring accurate and up-to-date content.
  2. Optimize web pages for user experience and SEO best practices.
  3. Regularly review website analytics and make changes accordingly to improve performance and user engagement.
  4. Troubleshoot website issues and coordinate with developers or hosting providers as needed.

 

Content Development:

  1. Develop compelling stories, campaigns, and content for ongoing initiatives and events, including blog posts, newsletters, social media posts that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to develop multimedia content for web and social channels.
  3. Maintain a consistent tone and voice across all digital platforms.
  4. Produce multimedia assets, such as graphics, videos, and photos, that align with the organization’s brand and mission.

 

Strategic Planning:

  1. Develop a digital content calendar in alignment with organizational objectives.
  2. Propose and execute strategies for audience growth and increased digital engagement.
  3. Stay updated on industry trends and integrate new techniques and tools into the digital strategy.

 

What You Bring

Must Haves

  1. A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Canva).
  3. 5+ years of experience managing social media accounts and websites with demonstrated success in growing and engaging audiences across multiple platforms.
  4. Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Loomly, Hootsuite, Buffer).
  5. Familiarity with WordPress
  6. Familiarity with SEO principles and Google Analytics.
  7. AI Experience: experience working with AI technologies, tools, or applications in a Communications or related role.
  8. Knowledge of the Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian boarding school history, legacy, and impacts.
  9. Familiarity with and work experience in Native American communities.
  10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  11. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

 

Nice to Haves

  1. Experience working with nonprofits or advocacy groups.
  2. Strong photography skills
  3. Proficient in creative design and videography

 

 

To thrive in this role, candidates will bring innovation and new ideas. We are looking for candidates who are clear communicators, adaptable, reliable, socially and emotionally intelligent, inquisitive learners and are collaboratively oriented while being able to work independently.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is salaried at $75,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance with full premiums paid by NABS for the employee and 75% paid by NABS for dependents/partner, a 401(k) match up to 4% of salary, and paid family leave for qualifying events. Employees earn four weeks of paid time off each year and get paid winter break the last two weeks of December.

 

The successful candidate will work with a dynamic team committed to Native communities. We strongly encourage applications from Native peoples with experience working with Native communities.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. This position is 40 hours a week with heavy computer use.
  2. Current staff are in Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones, keeping 9 am to 5 pm hours in their respective time zones. Some flexibility required.
  3. This position is remote with occasional travel covered by NABS to national conferences, guest speaking engagements, and events.
