Vice President, Institutional Advancement

Curry College, a private liberal arts institution just seven miles from downtown Boston, seeks a strategic, visionary, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA). This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team and directly shape the future of an institution committed to individualized education, student success, and innovative programming.

With over 2,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, Curry College offers more than 90 academic paths across the liberal arts and professional disciplines. The College is renowned for its personalized approach to education, small class sizes (average of 20 students), and a supportive campus culture. Signature programs such as the Program for Advancement of Learning (PAL) and the Social Achievement in Learning (SAIL) highlight Curry's leadership in supporting students with learning differences.

Curry's strategic vision centers on innovation and student readiness. Five key initiatives guide the College's current strategic plan:

Reporting directly to President Jay Gonzalez, a seasoned public and private sector leader and Curry's first Hispanic president, the VPIA will join a forward-looking leadership team at a pivotal moment. This leader will serve on the President's Executive Team and play a central role in executing the College's mission through strategic philanthropy, alumni engagement, and external partnership development.

The VPIA will lead the strategy and execution of all fundraising and alumni engagement activities, aligning efforts with Curry's institutional priorities. This includes managing a portfolio of major donors, expanding the College's contributed revenue, strengthening alumni participation, and supporting a potential comprehensive campaign. The VPIA will serve as a close partner to the President, Trustees, and academic leadership, helping to identify and pursue philanthropic opportunities across the College, including grants, corporate and foundation support, and donor stewardship. The VPIA will bring best-in-class practices to increase contributed revenue, engage alumni, and support a comprehensive fundraising campaign aligned with Curry's strategic priorities.

In addition, the VPIA will oversee a growing Institutional Advancement team, building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. They will guide infrastructure development, ensure strong operational systems, and promote an inclusive and donor-centered approach to advancement. As a visible ambassador for the College, the VPIA will represent Curry regionally and nationally, cultivating new relationships and deepening alumni and community engagement.

While Curry College will consider a broad range of backgrounds, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:

• 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience with a proven track record in major gifts, campaigns, and team leadership.

• Expertise in individual giving, institutional support, donor relations, and fundraising operations.

• Experience managing a high-performing team and creating a collaborative, mission-driven culture.

• Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership, Boards, and external stakeholders.

• Familiarity with higher education or similarly complex nonprofit environments is preferred.

• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of advancement work.

• Strong communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and a results-oriented mindset.

• Comfort navigating change, thinking strategically, and building infrastructure for long-term success.

This is a unique chance to join a student-centered institution at a time of strategic transformation. You will work closely with a visionary president, a committed Board, and passionate faculty and staff — all dedicated to building an inclusive, innovative, and financially strong future for Curry College.
