Overview

Health In Harmony (HIH) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and proactive Director of Growth & Partnerships to drive the growth and diversification of our institutional and individual giving fundraising portfolio. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for cultivating and managing partnerships with foundations, corporations, multilateral organizations, major donors, and other institutions and individual givers that are aligned with HIH’s mission. The ideal candidate can lead on and operationalize donor and partner prospecting, development of high-value, multi-year proposals, and comprehensive program reports, and bring creativity and strategy to increase giving and partnerships focused on environmental justice, global health, and climate finance. This role will function as a deputy in the Partnerships department, reporting to the Senior Partnerships Director, providing leadership across the department to contribute to HIH’s financial sustainability and global impact, and ensure integrated, cohesive cultivation and stewardship across all fundraising channels. The ideal candidate can adapt to an actively evolving environment, translate complex concepts, and use data to construct compelling presentations, reports, and proposals. Health In Harmony is a leader in planetary health and seeks a director with ambition, a track record of leadership and performance that can make decisions independently to systemitize resource management, grants management, and relationship development. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Advancement

  1. Develop high-value, multi-year development opportunities focused on scaling Indigenous-led, climate-smart initiatives across global landscapes.
  2. Provide leadership to design compelling case statements and proposals to raise catalytic support from institutional partners.
  3. Coordinate internal thought leadership and data translation to stay on top of trends in philanthropy, global development, and climate finance, including impact investing, regranting ecosystems, and results-based financing mechanisms—translating insights into innovative strategies and funder engagement plans.
  4. Provide leadership on donor communication and optimized, segment-focused campaigns that deepen and maximize donor engagement, increasing acquisition and retention.
  5. Set and manage annual and multi-year fundraising goals in alignment with organizational growth targets and ensure transparency through revenue forecasting, pipeline health, and performance metrics.


Fundraising & Portfolio Development

  1. Lead the advancement of Health In Harmony’s institutional fundraising strategy, driving $20 million in revenue growth over the next five years across foundations, corporate partners, bilateral/multilateral agencies, major donors, and philanthropic intermediaries.
  2. Oversee the full lifecycle of revenue generation: from prospect research, strategy development, and cultivation to proposal development, compliance, and high-touch stewardship.
  3. Ensure excellence in proposal development, program framing, and outcomes-based storytelling that centers on justice, equity, and community agency.
  4. Expand and manage a robust, forward-looking pipeline of funders aligned with HIH’s values and scaling ambitions, including new blended finance and ESG-aligned partnership models.


Cross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Alignment

  1. Act as a strategic bridge between Partnerships, Program, Finance, Research, and Communications teams to harmonize messaging, share market intelligence, and integrate institutional strategy across HIH functional areas.
  2. Leverage HIH’s Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system to shape outcome-based impact narratives, metrics, and funder-aligned reporting frameworks.


Engagement & Stewardship

  1. Serve as the senior relationship manager for a dynamic portfolio of high-value development partners, cultivating trust, transparency, and long-term alignment.
  2. Lead on donor and partner engagement strategy, including strategic briefings, site visits, joint convenings, and co-authored thought leadership.
  3. Tailor stewardship and renewal strategies to reflect each funder’s mission, priorities, and impact preferences, ensuring meaningful donor and partnership experiences.


Visibility, Positioning & Field Leadership

  1. Represent Health In Harmony at high-profile global forums and philanthropic networks (e.g., UNGA, COP, Skoll World Forum, Climate Week) to elevate the organization’s voice and deepen relationships.
  2. Support the development of collaborative funding proposals with coalition partners, leveraging multi-stakeholder platforms to accelerate scale and sustain innovative programs.


Data, Systems, and Performance Management

  1. Ensure accurate, timely tracking of donor activity, pipeline movement, and performance metrics within Salesforce and other relevant systems.
  2. Oversee the development of real-time dashboards and reports in collaboration with the Partnerships Associate to inform strategic decisions and funder communications.
  3. Provide supportive supervision, performance management, and professional development for at least two manager- and associate-level staff.
  4. Foster a culture of continuous learning, cross-team communication, and adaptive strategy informed by data and donor feedback.


Qualifications

Required

  1. 7+ years of experience in grants management, partnerships, major donor engagement, or business development, with a track record of securing six- and seven-figure grants or sponsorships.
  2. Deep knowledge of philanthropy trends, particularly in climate, global health, or environmental justice spaces.
  3. Exceptional writing, storytelling, and presentation skills tailored for sophisticated philanthropic audiences.
  4. Experience developing partnerships with foundations, corporations, and/or multilaterals and relationships with individual givers at multiple levels.
  5. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  6. Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), donor research tools (e.g., Candid, DonorSearch), and standard reporting software.


Preferred

  1. Knowledge of ESG, climate finance, or innovative finance mechanisms.
  2. Prior experience in global nonprofits, particularly those with remote teams or community-centered models.
  3. International experience or cross-cultural communication proficiency, particularly with partners in the Global South.
