- The position is within a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
- The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Contracts and Procurement Manager
Job Details
- Oversee the implementation of the organization’s procurement policy and compliance with its requirements.
- Coordinate with staff seeking to engage in procurement actions and works with them throughout the procurement process.
- Lead advancement of organizational priorities to diversify vendor base and increase the proportion of vendors from disadvantaged communities or with recognized disadvantaged/underserved designations.
- Help solicit and coordinate bids for large projects and advises staff on other potential transactions.
- Practice active risk management to reduce organizational exposure in contracts and procurement.
- Lead staff teams to review bids and select vendors, and awards contracts based on price, quality of work, past performance, and other factors.
- Coordinate between staff and vendors through development and negotiation of agreements.
- Provide substantive review of agreements for compliance and accuracy, resolving discrepancies consistent with organizational requirements.
- Review and update standard contract templates.
- Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure that contracts are effective and make recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct occasional reviews to ensure that vendors are complying with the terms of their agreements.
- Review and approve invoices from vendors to ensure that they accurately reflect services rendered or goods delivered.
- Coordinate training for all staff on procurement, contracts, and purchasing.
- Supervise contracts and procurement-focused Conservation Awards staff.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of direct work experience with contracting, procurement, bid evaluation/review, contract preparation, and legal screening, preferably on natural resource issues.
- Professional certification in contracting, procurement, or related fields preferred but not required.
- Juris Doctorate or paralegal experience a plus.
- Commitment to the mission of the NFF.
- A general understanding of National Forest management or other natural resource issues.
- Deep knowledge and comfort with contracting and procurement using federal and nonfederal funds.
- Meaningful experience with 2 CFR 200, Federal Acquisition Rules (FAR), and other related regulations.
- Ability to quickly synthesize or translate technical requirements into lay terminology.
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and prioritize effectively.
- An ability to work well and remain flexible in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong customer service and solutions orientation.
- An ability to represent the NFF in a clear and professional manner through excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in common office procedures and software, including Microsoft 365 and Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, & Excel. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics systems a plus.
