Native Americans in Philanthropy is dedicated to increasing and nurturing Indigenous representation in the philanthropic sector. With that in mind, the opportunities on our Job Board fit one of the following criteria:
- The position is within a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
- The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Director of Individual Giving
Job Details
- Develop and execute strategies to identify, research, cultivate and solicit qualified prospects for major and planned gifts to grow annual individual revenue, working collaboratively with other program areas in the department to advance fundraising goals
- Establish and maintain relationships with individual donors and prospects, through personal visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets
- Lead processes on all donor correspondence and mailings related to individual giving segments
- Assist the Development Director in providing support to the Board for fundraising initiatives
- Work with the Development Director in enhancing donor communication strategies
- Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications
- Work with the Development Coordinator, Data; and Finance team to monitor revenue and expenses related to Individual Giving on a quarterly basis, and prepare regular reports on all appeal activities
- Contribute to the growth of our planned giving program, implementing new strategies and protocols to attract new bequests
- Contribute to donor event planning to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation and stewardship
- Work with Development Coordinator, Data; and Finance team to interpret donor data and giving trends to inform successful donor acquisition and retention strategies
- Work with Development Coordinator, Data; and Finance team to evaluate the fundraising performance for different segments and campaigns
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in frontline fundraising for a nonprofit organization with a proven track record of building and implementing successful annual giving programs; strong working knowledge of individual giving strategies
- Excellent verbal communication skills and proven writing skills, including experience in writing direct mail appeals, e-appeals, and stewardship communications
- A strong KPI-oriented approach to program development
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Workspace (e.g. Excel and Google Sheets) required
- Demonstrated knowledge of donor database use, with proficiency in Salesforce CRM a plus
- Experience with Slack, Airtable, Asana, Expensify, Squarespace, Zoom, and data collection platforms
- Experience with budgeting, planning and project management
- Ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with donors and potential donors; customer-service orientation
- Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as independently
- Ability to handle diverse, simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and attend to follow-through
- Willingness to travel, including but not limited to: Navajo Nation (AZ/NM/UT), West Virginia, Texas, DigDeep HQ, and additional locations as needed
- Understanding of and adherence to donor privacy best practices
