What We Seek: The University of New Mexico Foundation is seeking a talented professional to create and implement a comprehensive development program from the ground up to support the UNM Los Alamos Branch campus. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chancellor, the UNM Foundation leadership, staff, volunteers, and friends to identify and cultivate prospects, develop strategies leading to solicitation, and steward major donors. The Foundation’s development officers will play a vital role in our next comprehensive campaign that aims to raise over $1B for philanthropic initiatives across UNM. The UNM Los Alamos branch offers small class sizes with an average enrollment of 15 students and retains some of the lowest tuition rates in northern New Mexico. The campus sits atop a beautiful mesa near the Jemez Mountains, blanketed by a richly diverse landscape. The region offers exciting outdoor opportunities for hiking, biking, camping, and skiing. The campus also has strong connections with the local community and the Los Alamos National Laboratory which provides unique educational and professional opportunities to students. We encourage applications from candidates who are passionate about cultivating relationships, fluent in all forms and levels of communication, empathetic, hungry for knowledge, a true self-starter, and one who regards sales and fundraising as valuable artforms. What We Require: Excellent communication skills and the ability to research, identify, cultivate, solicit, collaborate, and steward major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through face-to-face visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation and at levels defined by the Foundation. The chosen mission-driven candidate will contribute to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We Prefer: The team would prefer a degreed high performer with at least three years of related or directly transferable experience that would carry over into the necessary skillset, collaboration, and curiosity required to meet strategic goals and fundraising efforts to support the Los Alamos Branch campus.
