Native Americans in Philanthropy is dedicated to increasing and nurturing Indigenous representation in the philanthropic sector. With that in mind, the opportunities on our Job Board fit one of the following criteria:
- The position is within a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
- The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Project Manager
Job Details
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or a related field
- Minimum of two years’ post college experience in project management, administration, or community engagement
- Experience interacting with a variety of people—from managers to community members
- Previous experience developing and implementing project plans
- Previous experience working on collective, multiple-stakeholder projects
- Previous experience working with Native clients and communities
- Prior experience in community development is a plus
- Commitment to Native cultural values preferably from the Northern Plains region
- Experience designing solutions, systems and implementing strategy focused on equity
- Positive contribution to a welcoming and humble culture
- Ability to navigate quickly, nimbly, and creatively in a dynamic environment
- Ability to solve problems using organizational structures and entrepreneurial approaches
- Product and project development, management, and implementation experience
- Effective time management skills
- Communication that is clear, respectful, sensitive, and proactive whether written, verbal, or listening
- Relationship management that is responsive and adaptive to collective voices and nuanced input
- Teamwork that includes facility working on a small team, independently, and in small and large group settings
- Ability to perform a range of responsibilities–from supporting strategy to crafting deliverables to implementation activities
- Understanding of government compliance and reporting of grants is a plus
- Computer program literacy (Google services, Microsoft suite of services, etc.)
- Communication tools’ literacy (Squarespace, Graphic programs, publishing programs, photo editing, database management, etc.)
- Project management software facility (Asana)
- Social media agility (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, etc.)
- Ability to quickly identify and learn how to use new tools
- Ability to deeply listen and integrate collective, community voice
- Ability to interact with granting organizations–from the federal government to private foundations and their compliance and reporting requirements
- Creating long- and short-term plans with timelines and deliverables
- Adjusting project schedules and targets
- Coordinating, scheduling, and recording key points from client meetings and convenings
- Monitoring task delegation to appropriate personnel and team members
- Contribute to development and quality of the company’s systems, protocols, project tools, and positive organizational culture
- Generating first draft materials (i.e, visuals and communications) based on interpreting and synthesizing collective voice, processes, priorities, and outcomes
- Coordinating systems and protocols for clients and grantors
- Creating long- and short-term plans with timelines and deliverables
- Monitoring, adapting, and reporting on milestones, grants, and budgets
- Supporting the evaluation of project performance
