VP of Marketing
Job Details
- Oversee Marketing Department members to ensure all marketing campaigns maintain a high-quality presence on all platforms
- Ideate and develop MAPS storytelling/brand identity and ensure congruence with all other departments - Communications, Development, and Policy and Advocacy, and forthcoming programmatic departments
- Oversee the creation of multi-channel marketing campaigns including the newsletter fundraising campaigns, event announcements, sales initiatives, and major news
- Launch impactful and effective digital advertisements campaigns to support MAPS’ priorities and large marketing projects
- Collaborate with MAPS Public Benefit Corporation (MAPS PBC), MAPS Europe, and marketing teams in joint messaging efforts
- Design and hold MAPS’ Brand Blueprint and Campaign Work at the highest level
- Collaborate and strategize with the Director of Communications to ensure all communication strategies and efforts maintain a high-quality presence on all platforms
- Support Director of Communications in developing media strategy, including the solicitation and use of in-kind support, in furtherance of strategic goals
- Lead the charge on how communication, education, and movement building strategies translate to mass marketing efforts
- Provide effective strategies and campaigns that deliver messaging about worldwide psychedelic and medical marijuana research, education, and harm reduction
- Transform the public image of psychedelics and marijuana by reframing them as scientific, therapeutic, spiritual, social, and creative tools
- Ensure that MAPS’ brand identity remains coherent and in alignment with its mission
- Leverage the Organization’s digital channels, including website and social media, to optimize brand awareness, raise resources, and engage various targeted audiences across multiple social platforms
- Oversee maintenance and support for all 8 MAPS websites using established content management systems (CMS)
- Support reliable implementation of customer relationship management (CRM) system and corresponding platforms
- Responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring success while training managers to learn these reporting processes for:
- Comprehensive omnichannel marketing, communications, and public relations programs
- SEO success
- Oversee tracking of paid ads strategies, email, social, content performance and lead generation/qualification
- Oversee Events Team to ensure all events align with MAPS values, principles, and educational and strategic marketing initiatives
- Oversee Digital offerings, including online store and education courses, to ensure congruence with marketing and brand strategy
- Engage our strong network of supporters
- Collaborate with partners, allies, and new connections to support the expansion of psychedelic education, science, fundraising, and medicine
- Create MAPS’ first-ever membership program and cultivate and grow it to reach at least 100k members within a year from hire, including:
- Designing the look of the program
- Creating a marketing strategy with key OKRs
- Deciding appropriate member incentives
- Uncovering ways to creatively engage and inform our community of its value and importance to the psychedelic therapeutic movement
- Developing a strategy in which short-term revenue goals are converted to long-term movement building goals
- 14+ combined years of marketing experience, with at least 7 in digital
- 5+ years senior management level experiences leading big teams (10+); a strong leader who people want to learn from, work with, and are inspired by
- Experience developing brand architecture and positioning within the wellness or social change landscape, bridging together consumer data, trend analysis, and creative vision
- Deep working knowledge of all digital channels – organic/paid social, email, site/app, SEO/SEM, OTT, Linear
- Experience leading and managing marketing campaigns that drive meaningful impact at scale in a data-driven integrated marketing environment
- Inspired and driven to help with the important and challenging work of psychedelic research, comprehensive drug policy reform, public education, health equity, and harm reduction initiatives
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and find the root to simplify, streamline, and tighten process to create clear working paths
- A driver of positive change, unshaken about breaking new ground in an ever-changing marketing landscape
- Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to articulate a strong POV and inspire clarity and confidence to align cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience, as a staffer or lead volunteer, in people-powered movements
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and successfully with people and organizations representing marginalized populations
- Deep understanding of the interrelated contributions marketing, communications, education, and advocacy make toward movement building and social change

- Full-time, salaried, exempt
- Starting Salary Range: $175k to $195k / year
- This role is also eligible for variable compensation
- This is a remote position that will require you to have a suitable workspace with secure internet and reliable phone reception are required. This position requires frequent phone and internet meetings. Certain home office expenses may be reimbursed. A work computer will be provided
- Applicants are encouraged to be available during standard business hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM your local time, Monday through Friday). The exact schedule may be arranged upon hire. Occasional weekend hours may be required with advance arrangement and travel a few times a year may be required
