Native Americans in Philanthropy is dedicated to increasing and nurturing Indigenous representation in the philanthropic sector. With that in mind, the opportunities on our Job Board fit one of the following criteria:
- The position is within a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
- The position itself is philanthropic in nature and/or focuses on roles essential to or valued by the philanthropic sector i.e. fundraising, grantmaking, gift processing or development, donor relations, nonprofit management and/or administration, social justice, equity, conservation, etc.

Operations' Director
Job Details
- Bachelor’s degree in business or administration/management, or related field; Master’s / MBA preferred
- Six or more years’ post-college experience in managerial, operations, planning, talent management, or performance management
- Experience interacting with high-level administrators, corporate executives, professionals, clients, and Native communities
- Previous experience developing and implementing strategies – and the aligned internal practices and systems – that encompass human resources; planning and reporting; organizational effectiveness; and proposal writing, management, and reporting
- Previous experience working on collective, multiple-stakeholder projects
- Previous experience working on behalf of Native clients and communities; prefer prior employment in consulting, nonprofit, and/or Native organizations
- Commitment to Native shared cultural values and solutions focused on equity
- Relationship-based leadership that centers on the collective
- Ability to work quickly, nimbly, and creatively in a dynamic environment
- Critical and holistic thinking
- Strategy and tool development and implementation
- Facility working on a small team performing a range of responsibilities, leading strategy as well as performing an array of implementation activities
- Systems analysis and evaluation
- Strategy development internally and externally, as well as with clients
- Clear, respectful, and sensitive communication (written, verbal, and listening)
- Computer program literacy (Google services, Microsoft suite of services, etc.)
- Project management (Asana)
- Video call software literacy (Zoom)
- Talent Management: Recruit, select, and onboard employees; establish performance evaluation process and requirements; oversee personnel information systems (including Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) management); create and implement employee support systems; clarify roles and employee, supervision, and feedback loops; comply with legal requirements; and engage in related project management.
- Planning: Design, facilitate, and communicate planning processes for individuals and the organization (includes goal setting, progress and impact monitoring, and ensuring coherence across people, teams, and projects).
- Organizational Effectiveness: Establish and monitor a work environment supportive of organizational accomplishments and individual growth; troubleshoot; innovate; maintain organizational calendars; communicate; implement feedback loops; clarify and fulfill expectations; manage performance and projects; and maintain records and record-keeping systems.
- Fund Development and Management: Deepen clients’ funding strategy effectiveness and growth through communications, proposal development, framework design, knowledge transfer, and project management approaches that are consistent, responsive, collective, and aligned to impact.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Communicate regularly and effectively with partners, funders, and clients; identify opportunities for innovation and collective design and decision making; facilitate external teams of partners and clients; create collective agendas; document project work; and apply effective project management and facilitation practices.

The 2026 Native Youth Grantmakers (NYG) convened together for the first time on the homelands of our Coast Salish relatives.
