My name is Lanie Belle Gullickson and I'm from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. This grant will help with my dreams of becoming a Lawyer, I've always wanted to become a lawyer and help make my reservation better and speak up for our people. I want to go to North Dakota State University and major in Political Science and minor in Pre Law then after that I plan to go to law school. This would help with my books, food or housing this would mean a lot to me because I'm a first-generation college student in my family, being a first-generation college student has its pros and cons but overall, I'm very grateful that I'm headed into the right direction. All my life my family has lived off of checks, and I don't want it to be like that anymore, I don't want my family to worry about money anymore, I want my grandma especially to live a good and healthy life. My grandma is a very important person in my life, and she pushed to go to college and make a good life for myself but what she doesn't know is that I'm doing all of this for her, I wouldn't get to live this life if it wasn't for her. This grant would help me in more ways than I could explain.
