Native Voices Raised
About This Grant
Before the Rocks Cry Out (BRCO) is a Native-led nonprofit organization founded by Ramonda Holiday, a Navajo (Diné) artist, speaker, and advocate dedicated to serving Indigenous and LGBTQI+ communities. Through music, education, cultural empowerment, and community outreach, BRCO addresses critical issues including addiction and recovery, mental health, suicide prevention, domestic violence, sexual assault awareness, homelessness, poverty, and health disparities.
A primary focus of BRCO is creating safe, affirming, and inclusive spaces for Indigenous LGBTQI+ and Two-Spirit individuals while promoting healing, resilience, self-acceptance, and community connection. Through free community events, concerts, workshops, resource fairs, and wellness initiatives, BRCO connects participants with support services, recovery resources, mental health education, and culturally responsive programs.
Grant funding will support outreach activities, event production, educational programming, resource distribution, and partnerships with service providers that strengthen the well-being of Indigenous and LGBTQI+ individuals and families. The mission of Before the Rocks Cry Out is to inspire hope, foster healing, and empower communities through faith, music, advocacy, and access to life-changing resources.
