Assistant Director of Annual Giving Position #:  NF0006214 Hiring Range:  $50,000-$53,100 Closing Date: 09/21/22 Position Summary         

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. Reporting to the Associate Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving supports all campus fundraising and volunteer management in collaboration with the assistant director of direct marketing, annual giving stewardship including leadership annual giving, and individual accounting reports.

They will lead campus engagement and philanthropy initiatives and create an annual giving fundraising strategy for these constituents. This position will plan, organize, and implement current annual giving fundraising trends, including direct marketing, new media and special events. This position will manage two campus volunteer groups; Faculty and Staff Giving Committee and the Heelraisers Giving Council. This position also manages annual giving’s student interns. Additionally, the assistant director of annual giving is responsible for implementing a comprehensive stewardship strategy that consistently promotes interaction and recognition of donors at the annual giving level in collaboration with the University Development Office Donor Relations Team.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements          

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience   

Qualified candidates must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external audiences; editing skills; attention to detail; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team; the ability to maintain confidentiality; project management skills with the ability to organize and work on multiple and competing projects simultaneously; superior customer service skills for prospects and donors.

Candidates should have working knowledge of MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Access, OneDrive and Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photohsop and working knowledge of common social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Experience with donor CRMs (Blackbaud), marketing automation platforms (Salesforce), crowdfunding platforms (Community Funded), project management tools (Asana) and commercial printing/productions processes. Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting. The ability to work effectively with a variety of campus departments including consultation and advisement of constituent school and unit colleagues. A high energy level and strong drive to be successful. Ability to think logically and strategically.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience   

Preferably two years of higher education development, direct marketing for higher education or related experience.
