Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled AI Research Scientist to advance the state of applied artificial intelligence powering our real-time AI copilot. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge research and production systems.
You will design novel algorithms, conduct rigorous experiments, and translate research breakthroughs into scalable AI systems that directly improve real-time conversational intelligence for millions of users.
This is not purely theoretical research—you will own problems from hypothesis to production impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI Research & Innovation
- Conduct original research in NLP, LLMs, dialogue systems, and generative AI
- Develop new model architectures, training strategies, and inference techniques
- Identify research problems derived from real-time interview and communication challenges
- Produce high-quality research suitable for top-tier AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, etc.)
2. Experimentation & Evaluation
- Design statistically rigorous experiments with clear hypotheses and baselines
- Build evaluation frameworks for real-time conversational AI performance
- Perform ablation studies, error analysis, and model diagnostics
- Ensure reproducibility using structured experiment tracking and evaluation pipelines
3. Research-to-Production Systems
- Translate research prototypes into production-ready systems at scale
- Optimize models for latency, cost, and real-time inference constraints
- Work closely with engineering teams on deployment and optimization
- Apply techniques such as distillation, quantization, and retrieval optimization
4. NLP, Dialogue & Multimodal AI
- Improve multi-turn dialogue understanding and long-context reasoning
- Advance retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems
- Research personalization and adaptive response generation
- Explore speech, audio, and multimodal AI for real-time communication systems
5. Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor engineers and junior researchers
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define research priorities
- Communicate complex research insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to long-term AI research roadmap and strategy
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 3+ years in AI/ML research or applied machine learning
- Strong track record of publications or equivalent research impact
- Experience deploying research into production systems
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
Education
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, NLP, Machine Learning, or related field
- Master’s candidates with strong publication records may be considered
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in deep learning and transformer-based architectures
- Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
- Experience with NLP techniques: LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, RLHF, DPO
- Strong background in mathematics: probability, statistics, optimization
- Experience with experiment tracking tools (e.g., Weights & Biases, MLflow)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real-time or low-latency AI systems
- Work in conversational AI, dialogue systems, or human-AI interaction
- Background in speech recognition or multimodal AI systems
- Research in model efficiency (compression, distillation, quantization)
- Contributions to open-source ML/AI projects
- Startup or early-stage company experience
