National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer a regular, full-time, and exempt position that will help coordinate the NFF’s outgoing grantmaking to advance the organization’s conservation investments nationwide.

About the NFF: The NFF works with communities and organizations to conserve and enhance the watersheds, wildlife habitat, wild places, and recreational opportunities across the 193-million-acre National Forest System.  The NFF seeks to engage all Americans in this work.

Position Function: The Conservation Awards Coordinator reports to the Conservation Awards Manager and works closely with Conservation Awards and other Conservation Program staff, and Accounting teams to support the mission and strategic conservation goals of the NFF and its local, regional, and national partners. The incumbent is responsible for implementation and coordination of grantmaking and grant management processes for outgoing competitive and invited awards using federal and nonfederal funds.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: The Conservation Awards Coordinator is will:

• Manage pre- and post-award administration of competitive grants and a docket of invited grants, including:
  • Coordination with NFF project leads to plan outgoing invited grants, manage timelines, and complete project review.
  • Coordination with external grantee partners to answer questions, support development of grant proposals, and follow up on submissions.
  • Management of online proposal submission and review system and support of proposal review committees.
  • Conduct proposal review and due diligence including risk assessments
  • Development of grant agreements and coordinate implementation of signature and filing processes.
  • Management of active grants including maintaining accurate project records, ongoing grantee communication, review of payments, and review of reports.
• Help to advance the NFF’s organizational priority of diversifying its grantee base and engaging communities that have historically been underrepresented in public lands management.
• Provide information and technical assistance to potential grant applicants.
• Help to ensure compliance with NFF policies for applicable policies and processes, including internal policy as well as federal requirements.
• Coordinate communications with external conservation partners through newsletter and blog posts, writing project summaries, and other conservation-related content for external communication.
• Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure that grantmaking processes are effective and make recommendations for improvement.
• Coordinate training for all staff on grantmaking and related processes; and
• Coordinating the tracking of U.S. Forest Service Collection Agreements and associated projects.

Education and Qualifications: NFF expects the Conservation Awards Coordinator to possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of three years of experience in grant administration and compliance, contract management, or related fields.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Commitment to the mission of the NFF.
• A general understanding of National Forest management, and/or other natural resource issues.

Abilities and Skills: NFF expects the Conservation Awards Coordinator to possess:

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to process.
• Highly organized approach to daily work.
• Experience with federal funds management including 2 CFR 200 Uniform Grant Guidance is a plus.
• Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner through excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to work well and remain flexible in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong customer service and solutions orientation.
• An ability to represent the NFF in a clear and professional manner.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in common office procedures and software, including Microsoft 365 and Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, & Excel. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics systems a plus.

Location: The location for this position is flexible throughout the US. This position is a remote/work from home position and requires reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.

Compensation: The NFF offers competitive compensation commensurate with candidate skills, experience, and location. Total rewards at NFF, beyond salary, include generous paid time off, employer contributions to health savings accounts, matching funds for retirement, and more. NFF has recently (August 2022) implemented a new compensation program with grade levels as part of our commitment to transparency. The salary range for this position will be in the $56,000 to $75,600 range and may be eligible for locality adjustment. Please note that the indicated salary range describes the full range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.
