Voices from Tribal Communities: A Virtual Gathering for Philanthropy

On Thursday, April 2, 2020, we hosted a virtual event aimed at educating funders about the challenges Native communities face during this global pandemic. Erik Stegman, Executive Director, facilitated a conversation which highlighted perspectives across Indian Country. We are grateful for the participants who generously shared -- Maria Givens who recently authored a piece in Vox, Julie Garreau from the Cheyenne River Youth Project, Monica Nuvamsa with the Hopi Foundation, and Vanessa Roanhorse with Roanhorse Consulting. Our discussion illuminated the ways in which resiliency is a common thread among Native responses to this crisis, and a long-held value that will help us to navigate uncertain times within our communities, both now and in the future. You can view the whole discussion in this 1-hour recording.
